Today is an ALERT DAY for the potential for scattered severe storms. It will be warm and humid with gusty storms moving into the area around midday, followed by gusty cells and downpours through the afternoon.
Milder temps return midweek. Good Tuesday morning! Stay weather aware today! We have an Alert Day because an approaching cold front will trigger scattered gusty storms moving across Ohio.
The storms will develop later Tuesday morning, arriving first across the northwestern parts of Ohio. As they move into southern and eastern Ohio through the afternoon, they are expected to strengthen. Central Ohio is under a Level 2 and Level 3 out of 5 risk for severe storms Tuesday. All types of severe weather are possible, with damaging winds being the biggest concern.
Large hail, an isolated tornado, and localized flooding also will be possible. Be sure to have multiple ways of being notified if there is a severe storm warning for your location so you can seek shelter. If you have outdoor plans today, keep a close eye on the radar and be prepared to move indoors quickly as storms approach.
We will be very warm and humid today with morning temps starting in the 70s, then warming to around 84 this afternoon with brisk southwest winds. By this evening, the storms will be moving out of Ohio as cooler air races in for the middle of the week. Decreasing clouds overnight as we drop to around 61 with humidity dropping as well. Pleasant weather returns for the middle of the week.
We will be less humid and cooler Wednesday and Thursday. Each morning will have that crisp feel to the air with temps starting in the 50s and lower 60s. We will warm to around 75 Wednesday, then 79 Thursday with a light breeze out of the north. Humidity stays low with mostly sunny skies.
We warm up heading into the weekend. Friday will be partly cloudy with a high around 81. There is a very slim chance for a stray shower approaching the area Friday, but for now I am going to keep Friday dry on the 7-day forecast. Humidity will slowly increase this weekend as temperatures warm.
Saturday will be partly cloudy with a high around 86. Sunday we warm to around 88 with partly cloudy skies and a 20% chance of rain. Monday warms to around 87 with a 40% chance for scattered showers and storms. Have a good one!
