'Columbus City Preparatory School for Boys' held a special tie-tying ceremony Wednesday. The effort was about not only stressing the importance of a professional appearance to the young men but also sending the message to them that someone cares. "It really talks about tying the community to the school. It's what we believe is important in academic and social excellence. We always hear it takes a village to raise a child, and I believe that firmly as the principal. What we've noticed is people who are really intentional about making that commitment to our young scholars the see the return and investment later on," said school principal Dr. Michael Warren.
Volunteer mentors who took part in the event told ABC 6 that they are hoping to send a powerful message that there are plenty of men in the Columbus community who want to see kids doing their best. They stress they are willing to give their time and efforts to make sure local kids succeed.
