A 16-year-old Columbus teen was fatally wounded in North Linden on Christmas Day.
At 3 p.m., Columbus police responded to a report of a shooting on the 700 block of Moon Road. They found Deaire Craighead suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Medics transported Craighead in critical condition to OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after. Police say Craighead was outside when an altercation occurred and shots were fired. It is unclear what caused the altercation or who was involved. Police have not identified a suspect in the homicide.
