Authorities said he fled from officers while holding a rifle, which they believed was the same weapon used in the fatal shooting.He appeared in court on Monday in a wheelchair, with his attorneys arguing that he cannot receive the necessary medical attention while in custody.The judge ruled that the juvenile must stay in detention, but acknowledged the need to arrange medical care and transportation for future doctor appointments.
The teen's grandmother and mother were present in court, but declined to comment. The date for his next court appearance has not yet been scheduled.
