The holiday shopping lists for Columbus families are getting a little pricier this year.

Columbus-area shoppers are expected to shell out 5% more on holiday spending compared to 2023, which ranks among the highest increases anywhere in Ohio, according to a new report from the Ohio Council of Retail Merchants .

The largest growth in retail sales is forecasted in Mansfield, where a 7.3% increase is expected. Ohio’s three largest cities -– Columbus, Cleveland and Cincinnati -– are expected to account for nearly 56% of all holiday sales, according to OCRM. Prices also continue to climb due to inflation; however, the rate of inflation in the Midwest has slowed to 2.5%, which is down from 8.1% in 2022 and 5.7% in 2020.
