This weather is especially dangerous for the homeless population across the area. The biggest concern is heat-related illnesses.

Ambassadors say the big mission this week is to help the homeless population beat the heat anyway they can. Help could be just a cold bottle of water, or local resources to find shelter during this heatwave. June 20, 2024

Right now, safety ambassadors are riding around the downtown area looking to help everyone stay cool. We keep our waters in here. We try to carry between four to six waters. We try to keep them cold, and if we run out we will go back to our home office and we will replenish the water,” said Safety Ambassador Tyjuan Jones.

He is one of many ambassadors biking through downtown conducting safety and security patrols. Ambassadors say the big mission this week is to help the homeless population beat the heat anyway they can.Our outreach team, they are going to come by and they’re going to offer them resources -- such as, if they’re not in the housing process, how do they get started. Where they can go to cool off. So we also advise those folks where the cooling centers are.
