Columbus police officer Ricky Anderson was fired in 2004 after being acquitted of theft charges. A federal arbitrator later reinstated him to service.
on Aug. 30 had previously been fired from the department but was later reinstated by an arbitrator.
The Dispatch requested Anderson's personnel file hours after the shooting occurred and the 137 page document was released on Wednesday, as well as Anderson's internal affairs investigation history. At the time, the Fraternal Order of Police Capital City Lodge No. 9 said the city had"overdisciplined a mistake made by what otherwise would be considered an outstanding officer," according to The Dispatch's reporting.
