Central Ohio figure skater wants younger skaters to know there are other career goals beyond the Winter Olympics.

No matter what type of skating Galonski is performing nor where in the world she is doing it, on the ice is where she’s happiest. , which are underway in Beijing, aren't the only way to attain a successful figure-skating career.

She enjoyed learning new skills and the feeling of flying the sport provided — plus the competition. She had some success on the ice, winning regional titles and competing at the national level, but then injuries — a herniated disc followed by other lower-back problems and the traumatic fall — took their toll.

But they also saw how much Taylor was struggling by completely giving up her passion, so they encouraged her to try one contract, especially since it would be a great opportunity to see some new places. The whole Galonski family is grateful that she took that first voyage, even though none of them could’ve expected she’d still be doing it 10 years later.
