A community in Columbus, Ohio, is rallying behind a young girl who was paralyzed in a New Year's Eve shooting. Six-year-old Amiyah Hall was left with life-altering injuries after being struck by a bullet during a drive-by shooting on the east side of the city. Her 13-year-old sister, Star, was also injured in the incident. Amiyah's mother, Tiana Hall, expressed her heartbreak and the family's struggle to cope with the devastating event.
\ 'I feel broken because this is the one thing that has occurred that I can't fix. I can't make her walk again,' Hall shared with ABC 6. Amiyah's long road to recovery is expected to span years, and she faces the emotional toll of adapting to her new reality. 'The things that some people take for granted, simple activities and stuff like that, she's worried about am I ever going to be able to do that again,' Hall revealed. \Faced with this tragedy, the Columbus community is coming together to provide support for the family. Columbus police, in collaboration with local churches and community groups, have launched a fundraising initiative to cover Amiyah's extensive medical expenses and offer essential supplies. 'What can we do to show this family that they're not a number? Like these are people behind these bullets,' said Columbus 1st Assistant Police Chief LaShanna Potts. The community's outpouring of support is aimed at alleviating the financial burden and emotional stress on the family. As the search continues for the shooter, investigators are determined to bring justice to Amiyah and her family.
