As the holiday season continues, bars and restaurants in Columbus are gearing up for a bustling weekend filled with New Year's Eve celebrations and the Rose Bowl, where the Ohio State Buckeyes will face the Oregon Ducks. Local establishments are bracing for a surge in customers and preparing for the festive atmosphere.
As the holiday season continues, bars and restaurants in Columbus are prepping for a busy two days with New Year's Eve celebrations and the Rose Bowl , where the Buckeyes will square off against the Oregon Ducks.
Max Martin, general manager of Goodnight John Boy, said the past few days have been hectic as staff prepared for the festivities. "For the next three days, it's been all hands on deck for the staff getting things torn down and put back up on a quick turnaround," Martin said."We're able to celebrate not only with the staff, but also with the city," Martin said. "We're looking forward to celebrating the past two months being thanks for friends and family."Bars like Varsity Club on Lane Avenue are calm before the big day, but they're preparing for an influx of fans.
"Being in Columbus, you expect Ohio State to play in all of those playoff games and hopefully a national championship," Martin said. "It's definitely a treat to get that extra day when we would normally be closed, and I know staff is super excited to bring in that extra income." The two-day holiday stretch is expected to bring in significant revenue, with hopes that the Buckeyes will continue their winning streak.
