Its release comes less than a week after Prenzlow“It is significant that half of the employees we interviewed identified problems around equity,” an investigator with the Colorado-based Investigations Law Group wrote in the 47-page report. “This suggests that problems are not centered around small pockets of individuals, departments, or levels of employees.
“The statement was a dehumanizing statement tied to race, based on a context that cannot be ignored, whatever Director Prenzlow’s conscious intention might have been,” the report states. But a majority told investigators that they couldn’t see a way for him to continue leading the agency in the wake of the remark.
Several witnesses referenced in the report said they felt Prenzlow fostered a “good ole’ boy” culture within Parks and Wildlife. One woman told investigators that she felt uncomfortable even walking into the building because of the “feeling of testosterone in those spaces.”“Parks was the red-headed stepchild,” one person told investigators. “The wildlife culture is bully-ish, pounding fists, raising voices.
The state also launched a separate investigation into Lee’s explicit comments directed at state leadership following the Vail conference.
