A Colorado homeowner’s dogs have been poisoned multiple times after they ate methamphetamine-laced hot dogs that were found flung in their backyard, according to reports. Jillian Frank’s mother first discovered the drug-laced hot dogs in November 2025 after sweeping her patio in Broomfield and finding the weiners stuffed with a crystal substance,“She found a hot dog on her patio, and she’s a vegetarian,” Frank said of her mom.
“She cracked it open, and there’s this crystal substance in it.” The hot dogs were turned over to the police, who said they tested positive for methamphetamine. Frank’s mother set up several surveillance cameras and tried to put the alarming incident behind her, she recalled. But on Dec. 26, her dog, Gable, began exhibiting alarming symptoms. She then discovered her beloved pup had ingested yet another metamphetamine-laced hot dog in the yard.Colorado parolee caught carrying enough fentanyl to wipe out an entire county: DA Gable ended up spending 14 hours in a veterinary critical care unit and could only take fluids and sedatives to calm the effects of the methamphetamine, she wrote in a GoFundMe fundraiser to help her mom move to a safer home and pay burdensome vet bills. Two of the family’s dogs ingested the drug-filled hot dogs and had to spend stints in critical care to address their alarming symptoms. In March, another family dog, Murray, began behaving erratically, owner Annalyn Frank told the outlet. “I noticed Murray just spinning in circles and foaming at the mouth. I know him really well, so I knew something was not right,” Annalyn said. “We had experienced a dog high on meth already, so I was noticing similar symptoms. We looked at the Ring camera, and we saw he had gotten out of my car and he’d eaten something in the grass immediately.”“I feel absolutely helpless. My dogs are my absolute world,” Annalyn Frank said. “For him to just be looking at me, absolutely terrified, and then I had to leave him at the vet. I was helpless seeing him so scared.” The string of poisonings has left the family on edge and prompted Frank’s mother to consider fleeing the house she was finally able to purchase and make her safe haven in 2021.“Her dream has always been to own her own home. Now that her kids are taken care of and after years of hard work, including going through nursing school while raising 4 children, that dream finally came to fruition in 2021 when she was finally able to buy her house in Broomfield,” Jillian Frank wrote about her mother in a fundraiser statement. “At this point, it is obvious that my mom is being targeted … And with no true suspect or anything the police can do, her only option now is to move. To give up the safe space she’s spent her whole life working for and start over,” the fundraiser said. The family is also trying to raise money to chip away at the more than $6,000 in veterinary bills from the terrifying incidents. Broomfield Police are investigating the case as an isolated incident and urged the public to come forward with any video evidence or information, the outlet reported. The family has installed higher netting around their fence and said that security cameras have not yet caught a suspect.
