Flaring Near Periastron Conceptually, flare-related events triggered by magnetosphere collision may proceed in a manner described by the classical non-thermal thick-target model, potentially involving larger-scale coronal structures. According to the classical non-thermal thick-target model, which applies to solar and stellar flares , electrons are accelerated to high energies through coronal magnetic reconnection processes.
