When first-place San Diego State and second-place San Jose State get together this weekend in the Bay Area, it could go a long way to determining if one or the other wins the Mountain West’s regular-season championship.Advertisement
Substitute venues are necessary because Excite Ballpark, the minor league facility where the Spartans play their home games, is not available this weekend. The Aztecs have a 1 1/2-game lead over San Jose State. They finish the regular season at Air Force and home against New Mexico , who are third and fourth in the standings, respectively. The four-team Mountain West tournament will be hosted May 25-28 by Fresno State, which — at 22-22 and 11-13 — needs to rally down the stretch to participate.

He hit a go-ahead, two-run homer in Saturday’s victory over LMU.The Tritons , who defeated BYU 3-0 on Tuesday in a nonconference game, conclude the home schedule against Cal State Northridge .
