Former South Bay prep stars Eddie Park and Tommy Troy help lead the Cardinal’s one-sided NCAA regional win over the Spartans.

Former Los Gatos High standout Tommy Troy had three hits for Stanford, raising his average to .401. He had a two-run homer in the fifth, an RBI single in the 7th and scored three runs. Leadoff batter and ex-Valley Christian star Eddie Park had three hits, including a solo homer in the first, driving in two runs and scoring four. Stanford’s No. 9 batter Owen Cobb had two hits, including an RBI double.

Jack Colette singled in a pair to give the Spartans a 2-1 lead in the top of the third. Jonathan Clark started and took the loss, surrendering seven runs on five hits and two walks in 2 2/3 innings. The Broncos scored two runs in the top of the first on an Efrain Manzo single and they held that lead as starter Cole Kitchen pitched three hitless innings to open the game. But Kitchen struggled with his command , so he gave way to a bullpen that gave up five runs and the lead in the fourth inning, capped by a three-run single by Arkansas’ Kendall Diggs.
