High chairs have been recalled in the U.S. over a potential entrapment and suffocation hazard for babies and young children. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said in a notice dated Feb. 27 that the high chairs were sold on Amazon and other online sites as recently as November 2024.

The high chair also poses a deadly entrapment hazard because the opening between the seat and tray is large enough that a child can become entrapped in it, according to the agency. The CPSC said the recall involves all of Costway’s Babyjoy high chairs, which are collapsible. They were sold in pink , beige and gray , and have a footrest, a detachable tray, pink or gray or beige seat cushion with stars, and four static wheels with locks, according to the recall notice. The high chair can be adjusted for different heights and recline positions. "Babyjoy" is printed on the front of the detachable tray. "Goplus Corp." is printed on a label located on the back of the high chair’s seat. The model number appears on the product packaging. No injuries have been reported, according to the CPSC. The high chairs were sold on Amazon, Walmart.com, Costway.com and Shein.com between November 2022 and November 2024 for between $70 and $110.
