Colin Farrell has a disappointing update about his role in the upcoming Matt Reeves’ The Batman 2. Here’s what he said.
will likely disappoint fans. The actor delivered an unrecognizable and powerful performance as Penguin in the original film and HBO Max series. After the show ended, fans have been hoping to see more of him.
However, based on the actor’s latest statement, that may not happen. While it was already known that Colin Farrell would reprise his role as the Penguin in The Batman 2, the Irish actor has now revealed that he won’t have much screen time. During his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Farrell shared that he has only “a couple of scenes” in the upcoming DC movie.
“I’ve only got a couple of scenes, but the script is amazing, which is great because it means the film isn’t ruined for me. I can watch it now as an audience member,” the actor explained. This update may come as a surprise, considering how much his character evolved during The Penguin series. The final scene of the show also seemed like a perfect tie-in to The Batman 2.
However, writer-director Matt Reeves seems to have a different plan altogether. The same goes for Cristin Milioti’s character, Sofia Falcone, another fan-favorite character, who is also reportedly missing from the sequel. As for a second season of The Penguin, the studio has yet to officially announce it. The show was originally created as a limited series, but the overwhelmingly positive reception reportedly opened the door for another season.
A recent report, however, claims that the second season is not happening. The Batman Part II’s cast includes returning stars like Robert Pattinson, Andy Serkis, and Jeffrey Wright.
