A Coles store in Victoria has come under fire after an image was posted online appearing to show a vast number of security cameras installed above the checkouts.
A Coles store on the outskirts of Melbourne has copped a barrage of criticism after an image surfaced online appearing to show an overwhelming number of security camera s installed at the checkout area.
The picture appears to show several cameras tightly positioned in one area of the store. Picture: Reddit / LordBeerus2193 However, others said the location of the security cameras was not unreasonable, and the store’s high ceiling only made the feature stand out. A Coles spokesperson told SkyNews.com.au the safety of team members and customers remains its “top priority”.
“The safety of our team members and customers is our top priority, and we have a range of security measures in place to reduce theft from our stores including security personnel and surveillance technologies such as CCTV. Any CCTV footage that is recorded, is done so in line with all relevant laws and Coles’ Privacy Policy.
