Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Cole Holcomb is back on the practice field after nearly a year out with a severe knee injury sustained against the Tennessee Titans in November 2023. Holcomb's return comes on December 31, 2024, after a long and arduous road to recovery.
Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Cole Holcomb (55) returned to practice on Tuesday after nearly a year out with a severe knee injury. Holcomb suffered a devastating injury against the Tennessee Titans a season ago, and has been on the sideline for over a year. That injury occurred on November 2, 2023, and now, on December 31, 2024, Holcomb is back at practice. He vowed to return this season despite the odds being stacked against him.
He had been on the physically unable to participate list since training camp, but now has his 21-day window open to return from the injury. Holcomb’s contract was reworked to have a split deal, guaranteeing part of his salary. However, if Holcomb is fully out for the season with a knee injury, he will only earn $3.1 million, which is guaranteed, rather than the initial amount. The Steelers initially signed Holcomb to a three-year contract in free agency last year and he became the team’s green dot linebacker. After his injury, they signed Patrick Queen and drafted Payton Wilson
