Illinois and Chicago filed a lawsuit Monday aiming to stop President Donald Trump's administration from sending hundred of National Guard troops to the city. It comes after a federal judge blocked troops from being sent to Portland, Oregon.
A Coffee County man is sentenced to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to the 2023 third-degree burglary of a downtown Enterprise restaurant. Tyrone Lewis was sentenced by 12th Judicial Circuit Judge Shannon Clark after pleading guilty just before jury selection in his trial set to begin in the Enterprise Courthouse, said 12th Judicial Circuit Assistant District Attorney Jeremy Mitchell Monday.
Mitchell said that on June 1, 2023, Lewis went to the downtown Enterprise restaurant, cut a hole in the screening at the top of the building and entered the porch area. Lewis then took a chair, broke a window near the bar area, and entered the building where he stole four bottles of alcohol before leaving, Mitchell said. The entire incident was captured on surveillance video and Lewis ultimately confessed when questioned by law enforcement after he was arrested, Mitchell said. Mitchell said the district attorney's office credits the Enterprise Police Department for their work investigating this case. The district attorney’s office also expressed appreciation to the restaurant for providing essential surveillance footage that led to the identification and capture of Lewis.
