On Wednesday, the City of Cape Town’s VIP Unit successfully thwarted an attack on Rob Quintas, the Mayco member for urban mobility.
The incident took place in the Joe Slovo area, where Quintas’ vehicle came under fire. Prompt action by the VIP Unit led to the arrest of one suspect, who is currently receiving medical care. The Safety & Security VIP Unit, known for its dedication to protecting high-profile individuals, swiftly responded to the attack on Quintas’ vehicle. Authorised to employ the use of firearms in critical situations, the VIP Unit acted decisively to neutralise the threat and apprehend the suspect.
JP Smith, Mayco member for safety and security, confirmed the incident and commended the bravery and professionalism of the VIP Unit in their handling of the situation.
