Vogue’s Jose Criales-Unzueta and Naomi Elizée are joined by tennis superstar Coco Gauff—Vogue’s April cover star. They talk about her love of anime, her pre-match meal of choice, and winning the US Open.
“Life isn’t always glitz and glam and Vogue covers,” Coco Gauff tells The Run-Through over Zoom, on the day of her Vogue cover shoot. “It’s OK to be vulnerable, ’cause that’s life. We all have emotions and we’re not always happy all the time.” Coco’s received many accolades in her young life, but it’s clear that the success has not gotten to her head. She’s wearing a full face of makeup and has spent the day in interviews, fittings, and at a shoot.
On this episode, Coco talks to pod regulars José Criales-Unzueta and Naomi Elizée about shooting her first Vogue cover, her style icons, and, of course, a little bit about tennis too. At only 19 years old, she made headlines this past summer when she won her first Grand Slam title at the U.S. Open, becoming the youngest American to win there since Serena Williams in 1999.
