Bedbugs had laid eggs on their mattress
A Northamptonshire woman's five star holiday descends into chaos after she was left stranded in Turkey. Nicki Aktolga, 52, was put into a 'cockroach-infested' hotel after Tui cancelled her flight.
"There was no communication at all from Tui, they didn't have any information and didn't know what had happened. We were chucked in with 300 guests and my husband was doing all the translating. After being told the flight was delayed two more times, it was eventually cancelled despite Nicki claiming there was "no notification of flight changes".
"The staff said they were going to keep our passports until the next day so we could have a speedier check-in and go to a room. In the first room, we were given two single beds. No air conditioning but at that age, I hadn't even pulled the mattress apart to look at it." "Tui was giving a generic message on the app saying we will contact you in 24 hours. The rep had left us with no contact numbers. It is only because my husband can speak the language that we got anything translated.
In the end, they had to organise their own flights home as Nicki "didn't want to let her clients down" and had someone looking after their house and the dog. "We're lucky we were able to buy another flight. They surely should have taken all our contact numbers and done a headcount. How do they know I'm not still stranded there?
