Harrisburg police have responded to a dozen suspected opioid overdoses in the city in the last 24 hours, including some that have killed people. The police department posted an overdose spike alert at 10:20 a.m. warning that people who thought they were ingesting cocaine instead got a substance that appears to also contain an opioid-based narcotic, resulting in a series of overdoses in downtown and midtown.“The Harrisburg Police encourage anyone who uses a controlled substance or knows of anyone who uses a controlled substance to be aware of the increased risk we are seeing,” the message from police said.
