Cobra Kai star Mary Mouser teases Samantha's romance story details in season 5. Set 34 years after Daniel LaRusso defeats Johnny Lawrence in the 1984 All-Valley Tournament at the end of The Karate Kid, Cobra Kai has become a massive success for Netflix after the streaming service plucked up the series from the YouTube Red platform.
Created by Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg, and Josh Heald, Cobra Kai focuses on Johnny and his mission to rebuild his former dojo as a sensei. Featuring a new influx of karate students, including Daniel’s daughter Samantha LaRusso , while also focusing on the perdurable rivalry between Johnny and Daniel, the series continues to be a pop-culture phenomenon. Last year, Netflix debuted Cobra Kai season 4, which saw the return of Karate Kid 3’s villain, Terry Silver .
"In my opinion, Samantha has much bigger fish to fry than boys at the moment. I think she's got a family legacy to figure out at the moment, maybe. We'll see. Samantha's love life is one of my most favorite things because I just get to have so much fun hanging out with my friends on set and I get to call it work. I think people will be happy."
For now, Cobra Kai fans will have to wait to see if Samantha and Robby can rekindle their relationship that brooded in season 2. Slated to premiere on Netflix on September 9, 2022, Cobra Kai season 5 has a lot of loose ends to tie up after the end of season 4 saw Terry Silver betray John Kreese , Chozen team up with Daniel, and Samantha's karate journey taking an unexpected turn.
Indeed, each season of the hit series continues to top its predecessors by peppering in original cast members of The Karate Kid franchise and unveiling compelling plot twists for its core players. Cobra Kai continues to provide plenty of fresh arcs, fighting scenes, and unseen hurdles that have kept the interest of original Karate Kid fans while engaging a whole new generation.
