The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) on Sunday said some of repatriated overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) have escaped from quarantine facilities.
PCG spokesperson Commodore Armand Balilo, in an interview over DZBB, said those OFWs who escaped later tested positive for coronavirus diseases 2019 .
“May mga nakatakas sa mga hotel na ‘yan at ang masama nito, lumabas ang results na positive sila. Ngayon nandoon na sila sa bahay nila. Nakahalubilo ang pamilya, ‘yung community,” he said.“Iho-hold kung sakali eventually dahil may vina-violate siguro sila dito sa Heal as One protocol. May balak po na sampahan ng kaso. Iimbestigahan po namin kung sino ‘yung mga kasabwat nitong tumakas na hotel personalities,” said Balilo, adding that authorities were already searching for the OFWs.
Balilo appealed for understanding from the OFWs staying at the quarantine sites in waiting for their swab analysis and release of necessary certificates. On Friday, the PCG said more than 6,000 returning OFWs, who tested negative for the coronavirus disease, will be given certificates that they can use to secure transportation back to their home provinces and cities.
