Woman, 93, evacuated off cruise ship by Coast Guard near Galveston
A video released Sunday by the U.S. Coast Guard shows the medical evacuation of a 93-year-old woman from a cruise ship 90 miles off the coast of Galveston.A 93-year-old woman was medically evacuated from a cruise ship Sunday by the Coast Guard 90 miles off the coast of Galveston, authorities said.
A duty flight surgeon recommended the evacuation Saturday night because the woman, a passenger on the Carnival Vista, was experiencing symptoms of respiratory failure, pneumonia and septic shock, the Coast Guard said in a statement. The woman was hoisted from the ship along with a nurse by a helicopter crew and transported in stable condition to the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston.
