Coast Guard calls off search for missing man who fell overboard in the Gulf
USCG officials say 29-year-old Sterling Grover fell off of a fishing boat 80 miles off Sanibel Island on Saturday. Officials say the stormy weather was the determining factor in calling off the search.
Officials say the captain of the boat that Glover fell off of contacted the Coast Guard Friday around 10 p.m. He told them Grover fell overboard wearing khaki shorts and that he was not wearing a life jacket. Commander Fredrick Pugh, Search and Rescue Mission Coordinator at Coast Guard Sector Saint Petersburg says ‘it’s never an easy decision to suspend and active search and rescue case. We offer our sincere condolences to Mr. Grover’s family and friends.”
