41 people voted against the motion while 14 abstained and 33 were in support of the motion.The ANC is likely going to continue leading the embattled municipality through a minority government of 41 seats unless if theThe ANC currently has 38 seats while the Patriotic Alliance and the Community Solidarity has one and two seats, respectively.
“We are hoping that the survived mayor will take advice from opposition parties to improve service delivery which is our fundamental mandate as councillors, however, Emfuleni will never be the same. “Let’s engage our communities and account on what happened in the Council Meeting and let’s all go back to the drawing board,” said Senekal.
“As the ANC, our main focus is on stabilising the municipality and ensuring that service delivery is prioritised and we are committed to working with all parties in the council to achieve this goal. He said the appointment of a new municipal manager is just one of these steps, saying they are also developing a plan to increase revenue collection, improve governance, and streamline service delivery.
