Creed III introduces Amara Creed as the future of the franchise, and Clubber Lang would be the perfect Rocky character to help kick it off.
Creed III didn't feature a main returning Rocky villain, but if Clubber Lang ends up returning in Creed IV, it could completely redefine the Rocky franchise. Behind Apollo Creed and Ivan Drago, Clubber Lang is the Rocky franchise's most well-known villain. Because of this, many viewers are hoping to see the return of Clubber Lang sometime in the future, and the villain could completely shift the series in Creed IV.
Clubber Lang was the main villain of Rocky III, and he was a fearsome one. Mr. T's titan of a boxer had a huge influence on the Rocky franchise, absolutely pummeling Rocky and even killing his trainer, Mickey. Clubber Lang's Rocky Balboa cameo fell through, meaning that Mr. T's iconic fighter still hasn't reappeared in the series despite his huge legacy.
Creed IV could introduce a new fighter with a connection to the Rocky movies: Clubber Lang's granddaughter. There's already a precedent for descendants of older fighters to be villains, with Viktor Drago being the antagonist of Creed II, meaning that Clubber Lang's granddaughter could really happen. There were heavy rumors of Clubber Lang having an appearance in Creed III, and although this didn't happen, he could still come back in Creed IV.
Million Dollar Baby Already Proved Rocky's Amara Focus Could Work Focusing on Amara Creed and other female boxers could be the right direction forward for the Creed series, and it's already been proven to work. Although not a franchise, Million Dollar Baby was a huge critical success. It was unique for focusing on female boxers, allowing it to stand out from the many male-centric boxing movies that have come in the decades since Rocky.
Creed IV will be the tenth movie in the Rocky franchise, and although the movies are mostly great, the formula may be getting a little stale. Focusing on Amara Creed would switch up the franchise's formula in a new and interesting way, possibly even bringing new viewers into the fandom. The focus of Amara Creed is a fantastic path forward after Creed III and Clubber Lang can help cement this future in Creed IV.
