Christopher Preciado is charged with capital murder . He’s accused of killing Savanah Soto , Matthew Guerra , and their unborn child. SAN ANTONIO - This morning, closing arguments will be heard in the capital murder trial of Christopher Preciado .
He is the man accused in the killing of a young couple and their unborn baby. You may recall, Christopher Preciado is charged with capital murder. Prosecutors say the 19-year-old shot and killed Matthew Guerra, Savanah Soto, and her unborn child during an apparent drug deal. This was back in December of 2023 around Christmas time. Their bodies were found the next day in Guerra’s silver Kia Optima, abandoned in an apartment lot on Danny Kaye Drive. Surveillance released by police showed an individual exiting a gray Chevy Silverado and speaking with the driver of Guerra’s car before wiping the car door. Police later identified the people in the video, leading to the Jan. 3, 2024 arrests of Christopher and his father, Ramon Preciado. Ramon is accused of helping move the bodies. Christopher’s stepmother, Myrta Romanos, was also arrested, but her case was dismissed in November 2025. Testimony wrapped up Wednesday with five witnesses taking the stand, including an officer who helped search Preciado’s home where investigators say the murder weapon was found. The Bexar County medical examiner also testified, walking the jury through autopsy findings and challenging the defense’s claim that the shooting was in self-defense. A detective testified Tuesday about social media posts and communications involving the man accused of killing a young San Antonio couple more than two years ago, saying the evidence appears to contradict what the defendant told police after the shootings. During testimony, a police investigator described communications between Preciado and Guerra and said Preciado posted something to his Instagram story that implied Guerra did not have a weapon before the shooting. The investigator said that was the opposite of what Preciado told police when he was questioned after the killings. “He stated..in his interview with me that he had a weapon.Mathew Guerra had a weapon, and in this photo is appears that he’s saying that Matthew did not have a weapon that he was quote on quote lacking,” the investigator testified. Also this week, jurors heard a timeline of when Savannah Soto, her boyfriend, Matthew Guerra, and their unborn child were killed in December of 2023 during what police and prosecutors have called a drug deal. On Monday, a San Antonio detective walked jurors through the couple's last movements tracked through surveillance phone data, and witness accounts. Investigators say the night of December 2, Soto and Guerra were making stops across the city before meeting with people now tied to the case. One of them being Christopher Preciado, prosecutors say that meeting turned deadly around midnight. Detectives say it's around that time, using video and cell data, is when the killings happened. About 30 minutes later, detectives say the couple was placed inside a vehicle that was later abandoned. Their bodies were found days later. Detective Jeremy Goodwin testified he believes the victim, Guerra, and the defendant, Preciado, were communicating on Instagram before the murders. He also told the court those messages were later deleted. Goodwin was shown surveillance video from Dec 23, 2023. Goodwin said it shows Preciado's driveway and what looks to be Preciado loading a large bag into a vehicle.EXCLUSIVE VIDEO: Officer shoots and kills suspect after being threatened with weapon SAN ANTONIO - An investigation is underway for a officer-involved shooting involving a Castle Hills Police detective. The incident happened just after 8 a.m. Wednesday on the access road of Northwest Loop 410 and San PedNew state rules that eliminate natural smokeable hemp products and increase licensing fees will go into effect at the end of the month.
