Ducey's Prediction: Expect plenty of points when the Clippers visit the Timberwolves.
The Minnesota Timberwolves are cooking at the moment, taking a four-game winning streak into the weekend. That’s where they’ll meet the six-win Los Angeles Clippers, who are looking for a second victory in three games.
While personnel may change over time, some teams remain committed to the same offensive approach. That’s what we’ve seen out of the One wrinkle this season — which we saw develop in 2024 — is that L.A.’s also taking a ton of 3-pointers, meaning theis sure to help matters for the Clippers, too. He’s expected to return from an eight-game absence due to a hip issue, and while he’s shooting just 34% from outside this season, I will trust in his 38.2% career clip over a brief nine-game sample. The absence of Bogdanovic has certainly hampered this team’s shooting; just three players have played fewer games. One of those names is Bradley Beal, who remains out, and another is Jordan Miller, who is shooting over 38% from deep. Now, the Timberwolves are allowing just 35.7% shooting from 3, which is the 11th-best mark in the league, but they’ve also been shot on at the third-lowest clip. Minnesota also ranks just 18th against the mid-range — and in the last five games has fallen even further in allowing 44.4% shooting in the zone. With Bogdanovic returning and the Clippers firing away with great frequency from outside, I think this team can score the ball with a decent bit of consistency. The Timberwolves are solid against the 3, but not elite, and they are certainly bad against mid-range jumpers. On the other side of the ball, the Clippers are surrendering a ton of 3-point looks and rank near the bottom of the league in defending the arc. L.A. may sit just outside the top 10 in defensive rating this year, but this vulnerability should be too much to overcome against one of the best shooting clubs in the league. The Clippers are allowing the third-fewest shots at the rim, meaning we’re going to have to look to outside scoring in this one. They’ve also allowed the eighth-most assists per game. That has me excited to play some points and assists — and with L.A. specifically allowing a ton of these to opposing centers, I’ll go with. His ability to shoot and pass the ball — coming off a seven-assist game — should make him a weapon here. We’ll also want to play a mid-range shooter on the Clippers, given that’s probably their best matchup, and withexcelling in this area while mixing in more 3-point looks, he’s got to be our man. He’s cleared this in four of his last five games and has three 30-point outings to his name during that time.is shooting a solid 37% from 3 on the year and, after an inauspicious start, is averaging over 10 attempts from outside. We’re playing the lottery here, so why not?rebound total, one he’s hit in four of his last five games. Minnesota is allowing the most rebounds per 100 possessions to opposing centers, and L.A.’s rebounding rate is right there with its opponent.
