A former Clippers strength and conditioning coach has sued the team, alleging wrongful termination and tampering. The Clippers deny these claims and seek arbitration to resolve the dispute.

A former strength and conditioning coach for the Los Angeles Clippers , Shelton, has filed a wrongful termination lawsuit against the team, alleging he was punished for raising concerns about how the Clippers managed Kawhi Leonard 's injuries. Shelton's lawsuit, filed in October, also includes tampering claims against Clippers president of basketball operations Lawrence Frank.

In a response filed Thursday in Los Angeles County Superior Court, the Clippers requested that the dispute be settled through arbitration, as stipulated in Shelton's employment contract signed in November 2021. The Clippers state they paid Shelton through the end of his contract in June 2024 and assert that Shelton's demands for millions of dollars after receiving his final payment are unreasonable. Shelton's lawsuit alleges that he was hired as part of a campaign to recruit Leonard and claims the Clippers 'leaped well beyond the bounds of the NBA constitution' with potential tampering violations. He further accuses the team of 'mishandling' Leonard's injury and return-to-play protocol, prioritizing his productivity over his recovery. The Clippers' attorneys deny these allegations, stating that their treatment of Leonard was appropriate and that Shelton's claims of illegal treatment and retaliation are baseless
