Reds boss relishing the opportunity to manage in Europe for the first time

After rounding off last season in style by claiming their first Irish Cup win in 45 years the Reds are now set to face KF Auda in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Conference League. Whilst a number of that historic cup-winning squad have since left the club since the end of last season, including strikers Ronan Hale, Ben Wilson and Sam Ashford, the mood is still high in north Belfast.

“We took the opportunity to fly out and watch them in the last round. It gave us another opportunity to see the strengths and weaknesses. It’s the first time I’ll manage in Europe so I can’t wait and the players are excited too, and we’ll be set up to try and win, as we always do." Magilton praised the players for their hard work over the last few weeks with the attention now switching back to performances on the pitch. “Our main focus has been preparing for the 24th and being ready," said Magilton.

"The focus obviously is fitness and getting players back into the groove as well as obviously focusing on our game in Europe. It has been a tough few weeks as you would expect, pre-season always is no matter how long or how little you get.
