“At the end of the day, you want to be a hall of famer, so you play this game,” Naylor said. “We play to win the World Series or multiple World Series, and to be a hall of famer. We want to be the best of the best. But it’s very humbling.” A pair of Blue Jays players, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. who was born in Montreal, and Jordan Romano, who hails from Markham, Ont., were finalists along with Minnesota’s Edouard Julien and Seattle pitcher Matt Brash .
Over the Guardians’ last 13 games, relievers have allowed just four runs in 48 2/3 innings and held opposing hitters to a .131 batting average.“They’re really good, they have really good stuff, but they put in a ton of work to stay sharp,” Vogt said. “It’s not easy to stay sharp over and over and over and our guys are doing it and it makes my life very easy when you have guys that can get lefties and righties out and all of them can pitch and leverage. It’s a blessing.
