“As concerns about environmental hazards have come into our council offices, we want to be clear: Cleveland’s water is safe,” the statement from Council said.

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Norfolk Southern train that derailed in eastern Ohio carrying hazardous materials first traveled through Cleveland, according to the National Transportation Safety Board.

The train was traveling between Madison, Illinois, and Conway, Pennsylvania. The crew boarded in Toledo and traveled through Cleveland before heading to East Palestine where it derailed, according to preliminary information released Friday by the NTSB.
