Summertime may be closer than it appears!
Portions of the calendar have already been announced. In November, the orchestra unveiled its pops and film offerings for this summer, including presentations of “The Two Towers,” “Jurassic Park,” a Disney film celebration, and evenings featuring singers Capathia Jenkins and Audra McDonald, as well as a performance of Beethoven’s beloved Symphony No. 9.
Now the picture is complete. Along with those events, the orchestra Sunday revealed a summer season finale featuring music from “Final Fantasy” and the full array of traditional classical offerings. Many guest artists will be making their Blossom debuts. Into that category fall conductors Stanislav Kochanovsky and Ryan Bancroft, pianists Mao Fujita and Nikolai Lugansky, and cellist Zlatomir Fung, among others.
Meanwhile, Cleveland Orchestra patrons also can look forward to many happy returns, including those of conductors Jahja Ling, Keith Lockhart, David Robertson, Nicholas McGegan, and Sarah Hicks; pianists Conrad Tao and Jean-Yves Thibaudet; violinist Simone Lamsma; and Cleveland Orchestra principal clarinetist Afendi Yusuf.
