“Arts of the Maghreb: North African Textiles and Jewelry' opens Sunday, November 3. The exhibition trains the CMA's spotlight on the rich artistic traditions found in Morocco, Algeria, and Tunisia during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

She related a deep interest in textile and that the 2021 CMA exhibition “Stories from Storage” really tapped into that passion and creativity. Gebremedhen, who handled a significant share of curation of “Maghreb” as guest curator, had worked with Windmuller-Luna in a predoctoral student role for curatorial and research.
Those works include luxe textiles and fine jewelry from parts of North Africa – that is, modern-day Morocco, Algeria, and Tunisia – which were among the very first artworks in the CMA collection when it opened in 1916. Today, over 100 works attest to the rich artistic traditions of the region, known locally in Arabic as the Maghreb .
