Devante Glenn, 30, was sentenced to 20 years in federal prison for selling carfentanil to a Solon woman who died from using the drugs.
CLEVELAND, Ohio— A Cleveland man was sentenced Friday to 20 years in federal prison for selling carfentanil to a Solon woman who died shortly after using his drugs.
Ducatman’s mother, Kim Dyckes, said during the hearing that she believes Glenn showed no remorse during the five-day trial in May for bringing “poison” into her daughter’s life. He and his attorney maintained his innocence since the arrest, including after a jury convicted him of two counts of distributing carfentanil and one count of using a phone in the commission of a felony.
At the hearing on Friday, Bryan said the only hard evidence that drugs were even present at the home was Ducatman’s autopsy.Investigators connected Glenn to Ducatman’s death with cellphone records and DNA taken from an unrelated scene of a hit-and-run crash in South Euclid. An autopsy found carfentanil in her system. Carfentanil is a particularly deadly drug, estimated to be about 100 times stronger than fentanyl and about 500 times stronger than heroin.
