The North Coast Connector got a big boost from Ohio Legislatures after they passed House Bill 2 Wednesday.
CLEVELAND, Ohio -
$20 million from the state will support the construction of a land bridge connecting downtown with the lakefront. “The North Coast Connector is a game-changer for Cleveland and will have a lasting impact on our city’s economic growth and development,” Mayor Bibb said. “This land bridge will not only enhance connectivity between downtown and the lakefront but also create new opportunities for businesses, residents, and visitors alike.
Funding for the project comes through the One-Time Strategic Community Investment Fund – which was included as part of an overall spending package, House Bill 2, The legislation heads to Governor Mike DeWine’s desk to sign, according to a press release from the City of Cleveland. The North Coast Connector creates a direct connection between the Cleveland Convention Center and future hotel and entertainment development on the lakefront, opens up over 20 acres of underutilized surface parking for future economic development that will benefit Clevelanders, provides Great Lakes cruise tourists with immediate access to downtown, and helps the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Great Lakes Science Center to continue to attract more visitors.
