CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio - The Fairmount is closed after a building collapse d in Cleveland Heights early Sunday morning.

According to city officials, a combination of Saturday night’s storms and age caused the building on the 2400 block of Fairmount Boulevard to collapse around 2:45 a.m. Sunday.“I had actually walked under the zone that the collapse happened about four minutes before it happened,” said owner Jacob Orosz. “I was more concerned about my staff than myself of course. I started to digest that information a little bit more. I don’t even think about it, my goal is to just get back open tomorrow.

Fire Inspector Jim Streb said Monday the investigation to determine safety is ongoing and the fire department did not and will not determine the safety of the building.The Fairmount will be closed Sunday and plans to reopen Monday. Clarification: 19 News originally reported the building was deemed safe according to the Fairmount owner.
