The Cleveland Fire Department responded to an early morning house fire that firefighters said appears to have been set intentionally.

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland Fire Department is investigating two fires just days apart from each other that appear to have been set intentionally. “It’s a concern for us because every fire is dangerous,” said Cleveland Fire Lieutenant Michael Norman.

In the latest incident, firefighters responded to a Sunday morning house fire on the 700 block of Lakeview Road.Firefighters arrived at the vacant two-story home and found a well-involved fire. The fire started in the basement, and while the cause is under investigation, it appears to have been set intentionally, according to Cleveland Fire. Lt. Norman explained the fire comes 10 days after another arson across the street in the now-abandoned Virtual Schoolhouse building. “That fire started in the basement of the school, ran up to the second and third floor,” he explained. “The fire was in the back side of the school so there wasn’t any surveillance.” Cleveland Fire is not ruling out the possibility that both arson fires could have been started by the same person. “With them being in such close proximity, it would be natural to include them in the same investigation,” Lt. Norman said. While investigators continue to review local security camera footage, they are advising Glenville neighbors to stay calm and stay patient. “They’re not targeting people, it seems to be someone just lighting up vacant structures,” Lt. Norman mad clear. “I don’t want to concern people that someone is going to set their house on fire.”The total loss was estimated at $194,000.‘We will miss her terribly’: Sports reporter, her 3 children and family dog found dead in house fireAuthorities searching for middle school secretary accused of sexually abusing studentElyria police investigate shooting at Midview Crossings Apartments
