Just two years after making splash trades to acquire a franchise quarterback, neither team will have that franchise quarterback on the field for Monday Night Football.
Following the 2021 season both the Denver Broncos and Cleveland Browns decided they had experienced enough football without a franchise quarterback, and went out to acquire a proven leader for the position. The Broncos struck first, sending a pair of first round picks and a pair of second round selections to the Seattle Seahawks for Russell Wilson, with the Browns sending a trio of first round picks to the Houston Texans for Deshaun Watson less than two weeks later.
Wilson is long gone, currently starting for the Pittsburgh Steelers, while Watson is on injured reserve. Instead it will be rookie first round pick Bo Nix for the Broncos and former first round pick Jameis Winston for the Browns. Denver enters the contest as a 6.5 point favorite, with the over/under at 41.5 at FanDuel Sportsbook.
