The Cleveland Browns confirmed the organization is “studying other potential stadium options in Northeast Ohio at various additional sites,” after NEOtrans blog broke the news that the Haslams are buying 176 acres in Brook Park.
NEOtrans first reported on Feb. 8 that the Cleveland Browns owners have a contract to buy the site of a former, a 176-acre property that is less than three football fields away from Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, but nine miles from downtown.
Cleveland Browns/Haslam Sports Group Spokesperson Peter John-Baptiste shared the following statement on the Browns Future Stadium Planning with 19 News: While the FAA will make recommendations, it can not put restrictions on properties not owned by the government. The FAA’s determination is a recommendation and is not binding. The FAA does not have the authority to limit building heights, and the decision to issue a building permit is up to the local government. Although the FAA does not issue or deny building permits, it encourages those with land use authority to consider the agency’s determinations in making zoning and permitting decisions.
