With the PetSmart Charities Incubator Grant funding, Cleveland APL plans to address barriers to veterinary care in Cleveland's Central and Goodrich-Kirtland neighborhoods.
Published: Aug. 28, 2024, 3:37 p.m.CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Cleveland Animal Protective League has been awarded the PetSmart Charities Incubator Grant, which it plans to use for programs addressing barriers to veterinary care in Cleveland’s Central and Goodrich-Kirtland neighborhoods.
The grant will enable Cleveland APL to work closely with residents to identify and address financial, geographic and other obstacles that prevent pet owners from accessing essential veterinary services. “The Cleveland APL envisions a time when the human-animal bond is cherished and supported, and every pet is wanted and receives humane care,” said Cleveland APL President and CEO Sharon Harvey in the Facebook announcement. “As a progressive leader in animal welfare, we recognize that to achieve this, we need to reach beyond the walls of our animal shelter into underserved neighborhoods and be a part of connecting pet families with the care and resources they need and want for their pets.
