Kevin Smith says the first trailer for Clerks 3 should arrive in May. Smith kicked off his career in 1994 with the classic indie comedy Clerks and is now returning for one more trip down to the Quick Stop.
Writer-director and Silent Bob actor Smith of course will be joined on his return to the View Askewniverse by the cast of regulars from Clerks, including Jason Mewes as his perpetual on-screen partner Jay as well as Dante and Randal . And naturally Rosario Dawson will also be back as Becky after joining the gang in Clerks II.
Things have indeed changed a lot for movies and for Smith himself since Clerks came along in 1994. When that movie was released, Smith was immediately catapulted to indie darling status and soon embarked on a run of films including Chasing Amy and Dogma that saw him winning critical acclaim. Now Smith is something of an indie elder statesman and all-around pop culture commentator whose actual film work often seems like a secondary consideration.
