Virginia Tech , despite a valiant effort in the second half, couldn't overcome Clemson 's early dominance.
After trailing by 17 points, the Hokies rallied with a 16-3 run, closing the gap to 49-45. However, Clemson responded with a potent 12-1 surge, punctuated by Ian Schieffelin's dunk and free throws, extending their lead to 72-53. Tobi Lawal led Virginia Tech with 14 points and six rebounds. Clemson's strong first half performance, capped off by a 17-3 run, set the stage for their victory. Wiggins scored 10 points in the first half, while Lakhin added eight, as the Tigers shot an impressive 60% (18 of 30).
