A Cleburne resident found a rare pink katydid that’s perfectly suited for a trip to Barbieland.
Alison Ravenscraft, an entomologist at the University of Texas at Arlington, said pink grasshoppers and katydids are uncommon, but can be found across the globe. Since the gene that makes them pink is passed down through generations, they’re likely to appear in clusters.“It’s a delightful mistake,” she said, “because it’s not good for the animal … But they’re beautiful.
Woodruff posted a photo to his Instagram story showing the katydid in a glass filled with leaves — its very own dreamhouse.
