Clear Springs rallies past Clear Creek in eight innings
Clear Springs’ Tyler Ryden rounds the bases against Clear Creek Friday, April, 14, 2023 at Clear Springs High School.For much of Friday’s District 24-6A baseball game involving Clear Creek and Clear Springs, it appeared the Wildcats were closing in on a much-needed triumph.
After belting a one-out double in the bottom of the inning, Chris Richnow raced home with the game-winning run on a throwing error on a ground ball hit by Hunter Heath.The Chargers' offense was fueled by right fielder Dax Massengale, who went 4-for-5, which included a three-run home run in the sixth inning that pulled the Chargers into a 7-7 tie.“We just made sure we had good at-bats and picked everybody up,” Massengale said.
Clear Springs pulled within 5-4 in the bottom of the inning in a rally which was highlighted by Braxton Chehresa’s two-run double. The Wildcats had another chance to claim the win after taking an 8-7 lead in the seventh, but Springs answered with a game-tying single from Drew Floyd to force extra innings.
