Clayton Valley wins as Christian Aguilar throws for 331 yards and two touchdowns. California’s Jayden Macedo suffers an injury.
CONCORD – Who had the ball was anyone’s guess. After Clayton Valley Charter quarterback Christian Aguilar took the snap in the shotgun, he could handoff to the running back. Or he could flip the ball to a receiver running in motion.Or if he really fancied a big play, the quarterback could rip a throw deep.
“All my receivers are my favorite receivers, and that’s what keeps this offense dangerous,” Aguilar said after the Homecoming game. “The defense doesn’t know who is getting the ball.” But while California’s offense stalled as interior pass-rushers such as Jordan Palega and A.J Taua created pressure, Clayton Valley could not be stopped.
Phifer finished with 109 yards and a touchdown, and Amos had 92 and a score. Halfbacks Micah Avery and Khashabi both ran for touchdowns in the second quarter, too, as the team was content to punch it in on the ground after passing its way down the field.
